After growing up on the mission field in the mountains of Mexico, Joel attended the main campus of Calvary Chapel Bible College in Murrieta. After graduating, he served on staff there for over 14 years in a variety of roles, including Registrar. During those years he was also ordained as a pastor, working with Bible College students and as a children’s pastor at Calvary Chapel Hot Springs. He now serves as an assistant pastor for education and Academic Dean of the Bible College for Calvary Chapel Costa Mesa. He is also a book reviewer for Calvary Distribution and The Chapel Store. Having attended several schools after CCBC, Joel is nearing completion of the Ph.D. in Educational Studies program at Biola University/Talbot School of Theology, getting further training in leadership and education to better serve the Bible College students and the Church. Joel and his wife, Ashley, have four children, both by birth and adoption, and are the volunteer leaders of The Orphan Care Initiative at CCCM. Joel teaches several courses, including Bible Surveys, Bible Study Methods, Deuteronomy, The Book of Job, Gospel of Luke, Theology, Storyline of the Bible, and Christian Living & Discipleship.
