Julian was born in Africa in what was known as Northern Rhodesia (Zambia). He grew up in Zimbabwe (Rhodesia) and finished school in Cape Town, South Africa.
Julian is a byproduct of the Missions of Calvary Chapel. He graduated from the Bible Institute of South Africa in 1996, doing post-graduate studies at the George Whitfield College with Northwest University in SA 1997.
Julian is married to his wonderful wife, Monica, herself a women’s ministry teacher. Together they joined the first Calvary Chapel Church plant in Southern Africa, Calvary Chapel Kommetjie, between the years 1998-2002.
In 2002, following the tragic death of Pastor Kirk Cottrell, Julian was called to pastor Calvary Chapel Kommetjie. Ten years later, Julian was invited to teach at Calvary Chapel Bible College in Murrieta from 2013-2014, coming on staff with Calvary Chapel Costa Mesa.
In mid-2014, Julian sensed a call to return to plant another Calvary Chapel Church on the False Bay side of Cape Town. He and his family went back to SA, sent out by Pastor Brian and CCCM, and they established Redemption Church in July 2014.
In 2019, Julian and family returned to CCCM on sabbatical due to health concerns. Pastor Brian invited Julian to serve, and he now teaches at our Costa Mesa Bible college campus. He also teaches various Bible studies, provides pastoral care, participates in prayer ministries, and has a heart for missions.
He and Monica have three children: Jonathan, Grace, and Angelique.
